Soil Contamination – Biohazard Recognition
Hazardous and toxic waste management is a high priority in every Chemical Plant and Oil Refinery. Waste management and treatment is regulated and controlled by authorities, thus regulations must be followed accordingly. There are circumstances when this regulated process cannot be controlled. That is when accidents occur. This type of accident is typically a chemical spill and/or leak that essentially causes hazardous chemical contamination in the soil.
There is a 3-step process in this situation that is called ACM. ACM stands for Assess, Control and Mitigate. All three phases together are just as important as the individual phases themselves. OmniVueNDT specializes in performing NDE (Non Destructive Engineering) procedures in accordance with ASTM standards to recognize and map out the digital contour of possible soil contamination. The following image is a sample contour map indicating highest level of contamination in the nearby field.
The RED circle indicates an area with increased soil contamination where soil sample collection is highly recommended. This process narrows down the area of interest so we can concentrate to these hot spots in the first place.
